Musings

Well, it's finally happened.. I got the dreaded letter from Weight Watchers asking me to remove the info from my website. So the Journal of a Non-Dieter website will come down sometime in the next day or three. Hopefully some of you will have time to save the info to your computer before I take it down.

Lots going on in my life right now and dieting is on hold, though I am still trying to eat healthy. Thanks for all your support.

Clarification: This blog is not coming down. My website with WW points info on it will be coming down. We can blog all we want about WW, but apparently they take offense to people posting point info that has been obsolete for a decade on websites.

I am so dissappointed :( I just found this site yesterday and LOVED it! I hope that you continue your journey!

Oh no! Please dont leave! You have a very interesting blog...and your WW Food List has been the best thing that I've ever seen, since I've joined WW. Just take it down, and repost it again in a few weeks. I dont understand how they can ask you to remove this list, beings that this is your own personal blog?

Melissa T said...

Oh what a bummer!

Unknown said...

How can they ask you to take this off?
It is your weight watcher's journal.
Isn't that one of their main things is to keep a journal???
ok ok , I've got it this is not weight watchers this is the
zia-blop plan and those are not points they are zia-pops
hehehe

I am just starting the zia-blop plan today. wish me luck ;)

no! I love this.

Legally, it makes sense that they are making you remove the list from your blog....but it still sucks for everyone else. Good luck to you Rachel. I hope you'll still keep up with your journey and your blog, don't let "the man" discourage you! You've been a huge inspiration to a lot of people, as you can see from all of the posts. It's hard work and takes a lot of willpower but we all believe in you! :)

Seems pretty easy - just write down what you eat and don't put points values.

I find it stupid they are asking you to remove it anyway, but still just keep a food journal minus any points.

Anonymous said...

Ohh.. I understand more clearly now - I never had visited your web site before :) Well, if you keep a food journal on here you can just not write points but I can see why they would want you to remove the plan info from your other website. I like my WW leader and the WW program but of course when it comes down it, they just want to make money, not give away their program for free. Regardless, keep up the effort :)

I love the points...that stinks. I've been keep take of actual calories lately as well. Keep on trucking!!! :)

How can I copy the points to my computer before they make you remove it?

I found your WW Points over two years ago when I first joined Weight Watchers. I found your listing MUCH easier to search for the foods I wanted to find. The bells, whistles and intricacies of the WW website made it more of a task than just getting quick information so I can get on with the rest of my life. I, too, am bummed that you can't keep it up. Could I ask that you list it in a downloadable format? Perhaps something like Excel or at least a text format. That way others and myself can keep using it. It is SO handy! Keep up the good work. You're doing very well. Evidently, good enough to catch the attention of an international organization like Weight Watchers.

Iasa said...

Hi! I noticed you have no foods listed that begin with 'U'. Is that an oversight?

Unknown said...

I just found your points information today. I bet the reason they want you to take it down is because the want you to pay for it on their eTools! It is difficult and time consuming to calculate points of combined foods. I found your information when I was trying to figure out the points in guacamole. I had been in weight watcher before and they only thing I dreaded about rejoining was all the calculations I would have to do. If you each the same things over and over and only eat simple foods, then no problem but who really eats like that for a life time. This is suppose to be something we can maintain for a life time, right. Anyway, thank you for all your work!

Dottie said...

Another one bites the dust...LOL. I was on another blog last week that said the same thing. WW was making them take all the reference of points off the site. I'm getting a little tired of figuring points anyway and have just signed up with www.sparkpeople.com and all their tools are FREE. Continued luck with your weight loss!

yet another shining example of whats wrong with big corporations... i seriously have a problem with anyone that charges people for information that will allow them to become healthier. sure they have a right to market their product blah blah blah...it just irks me that they can charge people 17 dollars a month simply for information.

Stacy said...

The list is a great help to me too! I second lasa who said to have a downloadable version...technically that's not posting is it? Thank you so much and best wishes to you!

this was alot more convenient than that little book they give ya. Had this list handy on my iPhone wherever I went. Try to hang onto it as long as you can!

sherberto said...

Oh no! Please don't take it down. It has been a wonderful tool for me.

Unknown said...

Hey, I paid my 6 months to weight watchers, still a member and all I got was a little book with a few foods in it. Would rather support what you are offering. It is a big help!

I wanted to stop by and say how happy I am that I found you. I am going to start following you. I started blogging because I was told that if I wrote how i felt I would be able to lose weight. So far it isnt working. :) I follow ww on and off for ever and am determined to get my but in gear this year. I wish u lots of success and keep up the great work. :0 Kristal

What's the deal? You can't post WW point info? What about the "Dottie" website where she posts WW points for restaurants, etc.? She doesn't have to take down her info, why do you? Maybe you should just delete all the "WW" references on your site...people will find you and word of mouth (like with Dottie) will get your site noticed even without using the WW name.

Hello!
I've been offline for a while too and am now back. I hope you'll post occasionally and let us know how your journey is going. When I started you were one of my biggest inspirations and I looked forward to reading your posts.

Take care,

I hope you continue as well - good luck! I'm working on WW as well...I'm down 1 pound since last week!

Points are obsolete??? I'm supposed to go to a meeting tonight to find out about their out about their points system. I was on WW 7 years ago and they used points. So rename your 'Points' as 'Tallies'. WW owns the stupid copyright 'Points'. Ridiculous if you ask me. They can't nail you if you rename the numbers with another word.

You can easily save the HTML file of the foods points page on your own hard drive or jump drive. Then just double click the file and it will show up in your browser.

This little tidbit brought to you by http://notoriouswebmaster.com. :)

Don't see any recent posting however in my panic quickly copied the ww points list you have been assembling. I then read through your posts and just wanted to say I hope you haven't fallen off the ww wagon and if you have I know you will get back up. I am on ww, have been since 2/09. My starting weight was 267, I'm 5'11, and I am now at 233. Its been a struggle but have to do it for my health. At first I just seemed to lose my tits (sorry for the expression) but it's the truth however I have now began to lose what I desired to lose in the beginning.
Thanks for all your blogging, it's nice to read and so very helpful!!
Hope youre well!

Good Morning Rachel and friends !
I found you by laying in bed the other night hoping to get reception of my IPOD Touch through my neighbors WiFi ! LOL!! Low and behold I did !
Well its June 12th and you are still here and I am here now ! I couldn't be more happy.
I would not DO A DARN THING about your site or these points !
As one of your friends here said, just change the name of the Head Title, and forget about it.
Call it Our Food Tally Program,,whatever,,but don't worry about it. WE are all here together, and no WW Company can threaten anyone.
So now on to bigger things ! I am going to New Orleans on July 8th.
I have been eatting smaller portion and LOTS of veggies.
AND I have been exercizing on my pilates machine.
Keep your fingers crossed !

"Musings" Great & Unique Name
I read your Musings and my heart was aching for you from worries. I am a guy and my friend is on weight watchers, I know how you feel, I weigh 293lbs myself. It is a great program if you have a support system. No one should go through this alone. Unless you are a recluse, and having children indicates the opposite.
I do not think you have depression by any meaning. I do sense a struggle; it is “A” OK. Life is nothing without a struggle or challenge. Some folks use struggle to keep them sane, have you ever encountered an old man that loves to get people in trouble just for the heck of it, or get two people fighting each other just to amuse himself.
Most importantly, your Blog is very inspiring, your kids are very lucky.
Come back, many seems to be very worried about you. I am not worried, you are very strong human being, I know if a person is capable of organizing such invaluable & wonderful site and its blogs, can never be defeated. You need a group of support start from home then friends, beware some young girls “Daughters” are very impressionable.
From what I read it seems that you are living in the country side or rural area. Enjoy the walks, bike rides, camping if possible (I know it could get more difficult at times) and picnics, being out is the most valuable step you can take, all the greenery should bring joy to your heart also it gives you time to think and recalculate your goals (Prioritized).
We have 5 kids and my most repeated words to my wife are “if you do not take care of yourself first, how would you expect to help your own kids”; you basically would need someone to care for you, and when there is no such help you continue with your responsibilities while wounded, and trust me if I tell you, you are way to far from your goals at that stage. That is why I recommend you to go out for your own sanity, and then approach anything you want to deal with from the (its) outer shell.
I am a guy and I think this way, Imagine yourself fighting 6 people would like them to surround you, while fighting, or take them out one at a time. I am sure you can translate it, to be in Ladies/Girls term(s).

You are by far the most amazing woman I know. I say that and I mean it, in the same time I hope you would forgive me if I sounded like I am preaching to you.

Good luck my sister, best of luck. You did inspire many people with your hard work; therefore your payback is on its way to you (Have Faith & Trust in Our GOD).
Just take it easy.

I just signed up for WW yesterday. I was interested in the CORE program. Found out it no longer exists. I wasn't all that interested in doing points but I am working on menus today and getting into it.

I bought the monthly pass. I think their website sux. Truly a disgrace. And the handout materials are pretty junky too. I am finding I have to do so much research on my own to put something together. Though I have a lot of weight to lose, I won't likely give WW my money for more than a couple of months to get in the groove.

Haven't met my leader yet because we had a sub. She barely took a breath for anyone to get a word in edgewise and as a very well educated woman, I question some of the advise she gave. Such as you can unstick a plateau by eating different food because your body gets stuck if you eat the same food.

Your body is like a chemistry lab. It recognizes things like carbs and sugar and fat and calories and fiber, etc. It does not differentiate between apples and oranges in any way that would unstick your plateau. What a dingbat.

I actually hand wrote the list. It's on my fridge. :) And ty for taking the time to copy it at all. ^^

I weigh about exactly what you do and I am also trying to change my lifestyle and eating habits before I get out of my early 20's and/or it becomes hazardous to my health.

Anyways, you can do it. There's a lot of amazing weight loss stories out there that make me continue to push. It is possible!

Good luck!

But, your points site is easier to navigate on my iPhone. I just call it up when I have a question. I do hope your weight loss blog returns. Thanks for motivating me to reach my goal!

Hello! I am also a fellow WW and was thinking of blogging my journey too. I began last February and had lost 45 lbs by October. I of course fell off the wagon over the Holidays have haven't recovered yet! My starting weight was 222 and I had made it too 178. Unfortunately, I am now 195 and determined once again. I am hoping to end this cycle once and for all! I attribute my gain mostly to stopping my exercise and McDonalds french fries and sweet tea, LOL. I am doing Jillians Michaels 30 day Shred video and let me tell you...it ROCKS! Mostly, becasue it's only 20 minutes and you WILL lose a size in 30 days! IT WORKS! I suggest 2 days strait (you will be so sore the next day you will think you're dying but make your self do it the 2nd day) then rest on 3rd day and do 2 days again. By the 5th workout your endurance will have improved a lot and you can almost make it throuh each set with stopping. I HIGHLY recommend this. My current goal is my size 14's by Thanksgiving. I am not focusing on weight because exercise it what changes the shape of your body. Eating healthy alone only leads to discouragement and eventually failure. I wish you the best of luck and I will keep up with your blog. GOD BLESS!

- Select File->Save Page As
- enter the file name you want, and select "Web page complete" as the "save as type"

P.S. Oh and thanks for the spreadsheet on your site. That is really helpful.

Hi there
I really love your blog. Actually, it was an inspiration for me to start my own dieting.
I have had struggles with my weight all my life. I'm 5'4 and I used to weigh around 170 pounds. I used to think that the scale was wrong or broken or something, but boy oh boy was it right!
I noticed your Food Journal entries - I find them interesting, I think you should introduce way more vegetables, that would help a lot, because you will eat more, but have the same amount of points.

Unknown said...

I love your WW points list! That is crap!

Unknown said...

I love your WW points list, that is total crap. How can they do that?

Unknown said...

I think that WW is making a mistake in having you remove this food list. This info draws peoples interest towards the program without giving them the whole benifit of it. Since finding this online I have been making plans to join my local WW to join in with others that are on the program. This reminds me of the poor PR upon the hourly Disney employees that are worked like dogs with no real medical or dental benifits. It cast a bad light and makes them just appear to only care about profits.
